Key points
- Doctors from UM Miller's endocrinology division see patients at UM Hospital and Clinics, Jackson Memorial, Sylvester Cancer Center and the Miami VA.
- UHealth lists endocrinology in Coral Gables and at SoLé Mia in North Miami. It also runs a Comprehensive Diabetes Center.
- Baptist Health's endocrinology team works across eight regional locations, including Kendall and Pinecrest.
- Mount Sinai Medical Center on Miami Beach has its own Division of Endocrinology.
- Programs are grouped by area. This is not a ranking.
This page profiles adult endocrinology at Miami-Dade's large academic and hospital systems, based on each organization's own pages. For each program we note the conditions its page lists, the team members it names and where it sees patients. Anything the source doesn't say is left out. Independent practices are not covered here yet.
The Health District academic cluster
The University of Miami, Jackson Health System and the Miami VA are close together. A third-party directory lists University of Miami Diabetes Research at 1400 NW 12th Ave, Miami, FL 33136, and the Miami VA at 1201 NW 16th St. Both are in the same area as Jackson Memorial Hospital. The three organizations are linked, because doctors from UM's endocrinology division see patients at UM's hospital and clinics, at Jackson Memorial and at the Miami VA.
Because one division works across several sites, a referral to “UM” or “Jackson” endocrinology can mean different buildings. When you call, confirm the clinic address, which organization will bill the visit and where your labs will be drawn.
UM Miller School: Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
The EDM division) is the academic home of adult endocrinology at the University of Miami. The division says its clinics treat thyroid, diabetes, osteoporosis, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary and endocrine tumor conditions. Its doctors see patients at University of Miami Hospital and Clinics, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Sylvester Cancer Center and the Miami VA Healthcare System.
The division's research areas/research) include diabetes, pancreatic islet biology and autoimmunity, growth hormone deficiency, Cushing's syndrome, osteoporosis and thyroid hormone. Research areas describe the division's academic focus. They don't tell you which studies are open or whether any would apply to you. That's a question for your doctor.
UHealth Comprehensive Diabetes Center
UHealth's Comprehensive Diabetes Center treats type 1, type 2, secondary and genetic diabetes. The center lists Rodolfo Javier Galindo, MD, as director and Ernesto Bernal-Mizrachi, MD, as division chief. UHealth's adult endocrinology page calls the Miller School's Diabetes Research Institute “the largest research center dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes.” That is the university's own description.
UHealth sites outside the Health District
- UHealth Endocrinology Coral Gables: appointments at 305-662-1160. The location page lists Monday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Check the page for other days.
- Endocrinology at UHealth SoLé Mia in North Miami, an option for patients in the northern part of the county.
Jackson Health System and Jackson Medical Group
Jackson Health System is Miami-Dade's public health system. Jackson Medical Group's endocrinology service covers diabetes, thyroid disorders, pituitary diseases and tumors. UM endocrinology division doctors also see patients at Jackson Memorial Hospital, so the academic and public systems overlap there.
Miami VA Healthcare System
The Miami VA serves veterans in South Florida, and its endocrinology care is staffed by UM's endocrinology division). A third-party directory gives the address as 1201 NW 16th St, Miami. We haven't verified VA eligibility or referral rules, so start with your VA care team. Our appointment guide lists questions to ask.
Community health systems
Baptist Health South Florida
Baptist Health's endocrinology service has a team of endocrinologists, a fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon, nurses, certified diabetes educators and dietitians. It sees patients at eight locations in the region, including 13101 South Dixie Hwy, Suite 400, Pinecrest, FL 33157.
A Baptist press release names Kendall (11535 SW 88 St) and Pinecrest as endocrinology sites. We couldn't confirm the release's date, so check the Kendall address before you go.
Having educators, dietitians and a surgeon on one team may matter if you want ongoing diabetes support. It may also matter if your doctor has mentioned possible thyroid or parathyroid surgery. Ask how the team members work together and whether they are at the location nearest you.
Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach
Mount Sinai's endocrinology page is the starting point for its Division of Endocrinology. The division chief is Agustin A. Andrade, MD, and his profile page lists 305.672.7560. Naming a division chief describes how the program is organized. It isn't a recommendation of any doctor.

Academic or community: how to think about fit
Neither type of program is better in general. These practical factors can help you and your referring doctor decide:
- Your condition: If the question involves the pituitary, adrenal glands or an endocrine tumor, note which programs name those conditions on their pages.
- Your coverage: Network status can differ between systems and even between locations. Confirm the exact doctor and address with your plan.
- How often you'll go back: Conditions like diabetes and thyroid disease are often followed over time, so travel time from your neighborhood adds up.
- Team support: If you want diabetes education or nutrition help built into care, ask whether educators and dietitians work at your location. Baptist lists both on its team.
- Language: Ask whether visits, instructions and portal messages are available in Spanish.
